Hydrogen?Bonded Cholesteric Liquid Crystals—A Modular Approach Toward Responsive Photonic Materials

A supramolecular approach for photonic materials based on hydrogen-bonded cholesteric liquid crystals is presented. The modular toolbox of low-molecular-weight hydrogen-bond donors and acceptors provides a simple route toward crystalline with tailor-made thermal properties. Initial studies reveal broad application potential the thin films chemo- thermosensing. chemosensing performance interruption intermolecular forces between donor acceptor moieties by interference halogen-bond donors. Future will expand scope analytes sensing in aqueous media. In addition, implementation reported additive manufacturing printed devices planned.
